Randall’s ESL Cyber Listening Lab: A Website for Computer Assisted Language Learning

Randall’s ESL Cyber Listening Lab has been providing online English listening comprehension activities for ESL and EFL learners since 1998. Activities at Randall’s ESL Cyber Listening Lab focus on everyday English comprehension skills at three levels based on content, voices, vocabulary, and natural speed. A combination of adult, teenage, and children’s voices are included.
SAVING THE EARTH (INTERMEDIATE)
• litter (verb): throw garbage on the ground
She had to pay a fine for littering in the park.
I LOVE TREES (DIFFICULT)
• commodity (noun): a product or useful thing
Oil is a commodity in high demand.
• evergreens (noun): plants that do not lose their leaves and stay green throughout the year
Most pines are evergreen trees.
• exterminate (verb): destroy, kill off
The invaders nearly exterminated the native people.
A GREENER WORLD (VERY DIFFICULT)
• momentum (noun): the force that grows stronger over time
The last marvel movie loses momentum toward the end. • pitch in (idiom): to help someone or a cause
Everyone at the office pitched in to buy a gift for the soon-to-be-wed couple. • grasp (something) (verb): to understand something difficult
I couldn’t grasp his idea to build an ufo.
• expend (verb): to use or spend (time, effort, or energy)
We've just expended our last dollar in buying the house.
