Scrabble: An Application for Computer Assisted Language Learning

Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by placing tiles, each bearing a single letter, onto a game board divided into a 15×15 grid of squares. The object of Scrabble is to score more points than one's opponent.

A player collects points by placing words on the game board. Each letter has a different point value, so the strategy becomes to play words with high scoring letter combinations. Playing Scrabble has many benefits besides escaping boredom, including intellectual and health benefits. This application also helps foreigner to improve their english vocabulary.

Here are some words that i don't find familiar when i compete against computer player in scrabble perfect mode.

1. Basion

Definition: A part of the skull

Example: Neurosurgeon must know about the location of basion.

2. Divvy

Definition: Abbreviation of dividend (an amount of the profits that a company pays to people who own shares in the company)

Example: Shareholders will receive an interim divvy payment of 50 cents a share.

3. Pinon

Definition: A pine tree

Example: There is a lot of pinon in Puncak.

4. Quods

Definition: A prison (british slang)

Example: He was in quods at the time.

5. Fila

Definition: Filum (any threadlike structure or part)

Example: Algae covered with tiny fila.

6. Fossate

Definition: An anatomical depression

Example: He was having fossate the previous hour.

7. Ungula

Definition: An unguis (a nail, claw, or hoof, or the part of the digit giving rise to it)

Example: The patient in the ICU is having ungula.
